Cantante y compositor británico, integrante fundamental de The Police, banda pop de comienzos de los '80. Actuó y se lanzó después a una carrera en solitario.
Visitó Chile en 1990, oportunidad en que participó junto a otros artistas en el concierto AmnistÃa Internacional. En la ocasión, Sting cantó el tema They dance alone (Ellas bailan solas), dedicado a las madres de los detenidos desaparecidos.
